Robot innovation looks to take off in Guian
Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province has become increasingly popular among robot developers and manufacturers in China after hosting the RoboCom Sanhang Robot Challenge on May 12.
"Sanhang" is the literal meaning of the Chinese words for aviation, aerospace and navigation and the event "aims to gather more innovation talents for national high and new technological development," said a challenge spokesperson.
Organized by the RoboCom International organizing committee and TusPark (Guian) Operation and Management Co, the event attracted more than 800 teenagers.

During the competition, contestants had to design and manufacture the robots' projects and programs, and determine their progress and appropriate postponements, by themselves, showing their understanding of and proficiency in robot technologies.

"It's my first time to take part in such an event in Guian New Area and I feel it very professional. Our rivals are strong but we hope to win the championship," said a teenager from Huiyang Senior School in South China's Guangdong province.
Having started in 2016, the RoboCom International Open Champion has gained support from a number of national organizations, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
