Guian focuses on big data plus economic development
A State-level new area approved by the State Council on Jan 6, 2014, Guian New Area, in Southwest China's Guizhou province, has attracted a number of big data enterprises and made important contributions to economic development.
Twenty-four Guian-based enterprises were recently included in the provincial list of one thousand enterprises for further assistance on transformation and upgrading.
With an allocation of 11.31 billion yuan ($1.77 billion), the assistance will be provided to some modern industries, including electronic information, equipment manufacturing, and telecommunication and automobile parts. It is expected to create 35,000 jobs.
"The provincial assistance aims to improve quality, efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises. We should take full advantage of big data to achieve fast, efficient and high-quality development," said He Zhangyun, a 3D glass manufacturer in Guian.
The integrated development of the big data plus economy has already generated boons for companies, such as Hiccom Precision, which has achieved smart management with a smart cloud computing system.
"We have printed the quick response (QR) code for each product, from which we can tell the user of the product and track the situation," said Wang Weisheng, manager of Hiccom's executive department. "It's a savings of both time and labor," he stressed.
A three-year plan on smart terminal manufacturing in Guian suggests that at the end of that time the area will have shipped 150 million smart phones, attracted more than 30 supporting R&D institutions and manufacturing enterprises, and begun to develop into a key cluster for smart phones manufacturing in South China.
